The Institute for Subanen Studies is a special Academic and Research organization of the Southeast Asian Institute of Public Management Inc. It seeks to improve appreciation of indigenous culture, history and tradition of the Subanen cultural minority group in the Southern Philippines.

Established in 2017, the Institute has already produced several action-oriented research products that will help realize its mandate. The goals of the Institute are:

  • Significantly reduce the Subanen language’s vulnerability of extinction.
  • Empower Subanen communities through IP-based economic ,education and environmental interventions.
  • Develop knowledge products, academic papers and learning materials that will support existing and future IP-based educational institutions and programs.

AREAS OF WORK/ FIELDS OF SPECIALIZATION:

Among the AREAS OF WORK  we do are:

  • Policy Research on Subanen education, culture and politics
  • Development of textbooks for IP Education in K+12 Levels
  • Development of media products promoting Subanen Culture and Arts
  • Local Cultural Mapping studies
  • Curricula Development on IP-based Technical Skills Training
