To address the information gap on COVID-19, The Southeast Asian Institute deployed its Realtime Mapping System that tracked down cases of COVID-19 in the country. The website was used by LGU’s, International Aid Agencies and global news agencies. It generated an average of 1 million unique visitors a week.

The SAI uses its own advanced cloud-based server to host and deploy a custom-programmed mapping system that utilizes an integration of arCGIS, Ushahidi and GIS systems capable of generating, validating and reporting of realtime data.  It became more significant when DOH disregarded the John Hopkins Mappings system. Donations, support and funding poured it from around the globe.
